Attribution Guidelines

Proper attribution ensures that authors, creators, and sources receive credit for their work. Follow these guidelines when adding content to the PinoyIRC Wiki.

Citing Sources

  • Always credit original authors when using their work.
  • Provide links to official sources whenever possible.
  • Example:

`Source: Anope IRC Services`

Using Text or Commands

  • When copying command examples or text from another guide:
    • Quote or format as code:

`/msg NickServ REGISTER <password> <email>`

  • Include the source if not your own creation:

`Source: Anope Documentation`

  • Avoid copying entire guides verbatim without permission.

🖼️ Using Images or Media

  • Only upload images you own or that are free to use (CC BY, CC0, etc.).
  • Attribute the creator and provide the license if required.
  • Example:

`Image: “IRC Network Diagram” by Jane Doe, CC BY 4.0`

Avoiding Plagiarism

  • Do not copy content from other wikis, forums, or websites without permission.
  • Summarize or rewrite information in your own words.
  • Always credit the original source.

Linking Back

  • Whenever possible, link back to the original source.
  • Example:

`See Anope Official Documentation for more details.`

Best Practices

  • Provide clear and accurate attribution.
  • Use proper formatting for quotes, code, and images.
  • Keep attribution visible on the page.
  • When in doubt, ask the wiki administrators before using third-party content.
