Follow these security tips to protect your nickname, channel, and account on the PinoyIRC Network.

===== Password Safety =====

  * Use a **strong password** (at least 10 characters)
  * Combine **uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols**
  * Never reuse passwords from other websites or services
  * Never share your password with anyone, including friends or staff

===== Nickname Protection =====

  * Always **identify immediately** after connecting:
    /msg NickServ IDENTIFY <password>
  * Enable nickname protection:
    /msg NickServ SET KILL ON
    /msg NickServ SET SECURE ON
  * Register a **valid email address** for recovery

===== Channel Protection =====

  * Enable channel security options:
    /msg ChanServ SET #channel SECURE ON
    /msg ChanServ SET #channel OPGUARD ON
  * Limit Founder and SOP access
  * Remove inactive or unknown operators
  * Regularly review the access list

===== SSL & Secure Connections =====

  * Always connect using **SSL/TLS** when available
  * Default SSL port is usually **+6697**
  * SSL prevents password sniffing on public networks

===== Client & Device Safety =====

  * Keep your IRC client updated
  * Avoid unknown scripts or addons
  * Do not auto-identify on shared computers
  * Use a firewall and updated antivirus software

===== Social Engineering & Scams =====

  * Staff will **never ask for your password**
  * Do not trust users claiming to be “Network Admins”
  * Be cautious of links sent via private messages
  * Report suspicious behavior to IRC Operators

===== Recovery & Compromise =====

  * If your nickname or channel is compromised:
    * Change your password immediately
    * Contact IRC Operators for assistance
  * Use registered email for password recovery
  * Do not attempt to “fight back” using scripts or bots

===== Reporting Issues =====

  * Report abuse, spam, or security issues promptly
  * Use proper channels or contact online IRC Operators
  * Provide logs or screenshots when possible
